DAR Headquarters, including the DAR Museum and DAR Library, will be closed to the public on Saturday, June 13
due to street closures and access restrictions connected with an area event. Additionally, street traffic and parking
in the area will be significantly restricted in the days leading up to and following the weekend events.
We’re thrilled to have your event at DAR! To better assist you, we have provided an overview of our booking process.
Please note we require a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks out from the Event Date in order to book.
Tours are available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 11 AM – 4 PM and Fridays between 10 AM – 3 PM. During the tour, we’d be happy to answer your questions about how your event would work best in our spaces. All guided site visits must be scheduled in advance with the NSDAR Event Staff.
A tour must be completed in order to proceed with a booking. We do not offer tours on the weekend, Remote tours are also available as an alternative.
Following the tour, we’ll send you an Event Questionnaire to complete confirming the details of your event such as date, guest count as well as start and end time. A hold will not be placed on any date until the Questionnaire has been received.
All holds are considered temporary with the right of first refusal until a contract and payment have been received.
Once we receive the Event Questionnaire, we’ll put together a Quote based on your needs. Following your approval of the Estimate, you’ll be sent the Rental Contract. We charge a flat rate per space that includes set up, event time, and clean up. In addition, we include security and maintenance fees for our staff’s presence onsite for your event.
We require at least 3 hours for load in and 1 hour for load out that will bookend your designated event time
For rates, please go to our Rental Rates page.
Due upon execution of the contract is a 25% deposit, which will then secure your date. We also require a Certificate of Insurance and Security Deposit. These items are due 30 days before your event along with the full rental payment. We accept both check and credit card as a form of payment.
If the event is contacted at six weeks prior to the event date, then the full payment will be due upon execution.
You’re all set! Now is the time to start planning. As we’re a historic building, we have a few policies in place to ensure the ongoing protection and enjoyment of our spaces including a list of Required Catering and Preferred vendors who are highly familiar with operating at DAR.
Our dedicated events team at DAR will be pleased to advise you on how to make your event successful and answer questions. Please note we do not serve as your day of coordinator or event planner. You are required to have one as part of your event. If you do not already have one, we can make recommendations from our preferred list.
Roughly 4 to 6 weeks prior to your event date, we’ll schedule a walkthrough with you and your team of vendors. At the walkthrough, we’ll be confirming all logistics from guest entrance to ADA to rain plan.
Caterer, planner and client are required to attend all walkthroughs. Other vendors may be required to as well depending on the logistics of the event. Any vendors that have never worked at DAR before MUST attend. A second walkthrough may be scheduled if the vendor cannot make the original time.
Finally! We’re here working alongside your vendors to make your event memorable.
