Made in Strasburg, Virginia in the Shenandoah circa 1890, this piece is wheel-thrown with a coggled rim, applied scroll hanger, applied decoration, small footer, and a streaked copper and manganese over a cream slip under lead glaze. The applied decoration includes a double floral on the front with two blossoms and two leaves upon which a bird is perched as she pecks at a berry. The piece is 7 3/4" high. We do not have this form in red earthenware. This represents the decorative side of red earthenware.
