Currier & Ives was a printmaking firm that began in 1857 and create prints until 1907. The firm was located in New York and the scope of their print work was broad. Currier & Ives made genre scenes, portrait prints, historical scenes, broadsides, decorative documents, and more.
The museum’s current Currier & Ives prints depict historical events and political and military figures. This would be the first exterior view that depicts westward expansion and the railroad.
