Description
The Museum Education intern will work with the Education department on projects pertaining to the museum and its collections. Tasks may include:
- Developing content for the museum’s collections app – SmARTify – which includes audio tours, exhibitions, and getting existing collections items loaded into the platform.
- Updating existing and creating new outreach presentations for the DAR Museum Correspondent Docent program, including research and design.
- Assist with the creation of new gallery and exhibition audio tours, including a descriptive audio tour to assist with low- or no-vision visitors.
- Identify and implement ways to make the DAR Museum more accessible to audiences.
The intern will also spend time gaining a general overview of the education department. The intern will assist with the planning and execution of various education programs and offerings, including special events and social media content.
Requirements
- Enrolled graduate student in a Museum Studies, Museum Education, History, or a related field of study
- Knowledge or interest in history, education, and/or museum studies in general
- Comfortable interacting with the public
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with computer-assisted presentations is a plus
Time Commitment
10-20 hours per week
Compensation
$19.00 per hour, subject to federal, state, and local taxes.
