
The purpose of the American History Committee is to promote American history throughout the year by honoring historically significant people, places, dates, and events.
The committee, which works under the jurisdiction of the Historian General, promotes such activities as: presenting American history programs; arranging historical displays in schools, libraries, and public buildings; preparing and encouraging use of DAR public service announcements; displaying DAR stickers and posters promoting American history in schools; and sponsoring/administering two major essay contests.
