This Philadelphia, Pennsylvania dressing table is attributed to cabinetmaker David Evans and dates between 1773 and 1790. Evans’ shop was prolific, making furniture in the late baroque and rococo styles. The carving of the legs was likely done by a specialist which is typical of Philadelphia during the period.
We have only one 18th century dressing table in the collection which is attributed to Northern Virginia. This piece is an urban dressing table of sophisticated styling attributed to a known maker.
